Photo a Day - It's Getting Cold Out There

It's cold.  And I think it's here to stay.

The days are short now, so it's tough to find good light for photos.  This was in fact very sparkly snow.  You'll have to use your imagination J

We're getting our coffee in seasonal cups, which I love.

And a chocolate flavoured pop/soda has hit the stores.  Do you call it pop or soda where you live?  Either way, this did not taste good.

The candy cane ice cream and egg nog, however, are really, really good.  Especially in front of the fireplace.

Comfort food in the form of a massive tuna casserole.   An entire block of cheddar, 3 packages of noodles, 4 tins of tuna.  Sometimes I purposely cook for leftovers, and I fully expected some after this meal.  There was barely enough for a small lunch.

And hockey, of course.

  1. I really want that casserole for dinner!! And we call it soda here in New England but my mom is from Buffalo and they called it "pop." And I miss Tim Horton's! And I love your photos. They give me warm feelings.

  2. I was thinking, wow that soda sounds good, and laughed when you said it was gross! But I would like a bowl of the candy cane ice cream, right after some of that tuna casserole!

  3. Hi Jenn~ I agree with you about not getting good lighting for pictures! The window for taking good pictures in my kitchen has definitely gotten smaller! I love the Tom Horton Coffee cups...so festive:) I have already gone through one container of eggnog and that peppermint ice cream looks delish and in my house we call it "pop". I think winter is here to stay....I'm not sure yet if that's a good thing or a bad thing:) Lynn

  4. I haven't seen the winter Tim's cups here in Alberta yet -- the last cup I had looked like a football in honour of the upcoming Grey Cup game.

  5. Some friends of ours are in Canada for two years because of work (not that this sounds like a hardship to me!) and we get almost daily snow updates! The kids seem almost as excited as the adults about it!!

  6. Wow, you really DID get some snow! So far, here in New Brunswick (Canada) I have seen flurries three times, but it was very faint, and only lasted a few minutes. It was so faint, in fact, that the second time I saw it, I thought it was rain. We never got enough each time, for there to be anything that stayed on the ground. As far as your treats, the last time I was at a Tim's was to pick up a gift card for my husband for our daughter's birthday gift to him, back the end of August. I have had a half cup of coffee in my early twenties, and none since. I have never tasted tea. As for the other, we call it "pop" here. Now, talking about the ice cream. I have always LOVED that candy cane ice cream. However, the grocery store here, or I should say their supplier/manufacturer,where we have purchased it since moving back 5 years ago, pulled a fast one last year. There was a big sale on the ice cream, and we got like 6 tubs of the stuff (I SAID I like my candy cane ice cream, lol!) and there were no pieces of candy cane in it. Instead, they just added some flavor and food coloring. Not good, SO not good. Now, I will be very leary about buying any in the future. BUMMER!

  9. Nice post. I like some egg nogg's and I'm thinking I'll make me some this year. Hockey always seemed like a sport I would enjoy but we're just too far south but I do like to watch it from time to time.

  11. Oooh, lots of awesome Canadian goodies! haha this post should be titled "how to be Canadian" :P I love eggnog, my Boyfriend and I just came home from groceries and we bought quite a bit. I did not, however, see that soda! It looks very strange, but I probably will just take your word for it and stay away, lol.

  13. We call it soda here but on the other side of the state (west side) they call it Pop! I grew up in Florida and no one down there calls it pop so it just sounds weird to me. We call it soda or Coke. Either way- chocolate flavor does sound gross (like you said) But, I Loooove the peppermint ice cream at Christmas time!!
