This shift in weather was a subtle thing. Rainy days, sunshine. Mild days, cold nights. Waking up to morning frost on the rooftops.
And this morning, snow.
It's not much, but it's enough snow to make me think of hot chocolate, gingerbread, peppermint, and Christmas decorations. And Christmas cards.
Which leads to thinking about photos for the Christmas cards. I have to confess that it's been a few years since I mailed anyone a Christmas card, but I have resolved to change that this year. I contributed to a post at Shutterfly recently about holiday card photos. You can read it here:
Jenn, these photos are simply stunning! You are really making me want to be somewhere with snow right now!!
ReplyDeleteThese are beautiful! We are fairly new to a snowy region and are loving the dustings we have gotten so far. Really ready to get some more, so I can teach myself winter photography tricks. :) Thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful! I wish it snowed here. This will be my first Christmas no where near snow. :(
ReplyDeleteThere were flakes in some of the hill towns surrounding ours, but nothing here yet! I'm looking forward to it, I suppose! If it's gotta be cold and dark, we may as well welcome snow too.
ReplyDeleteWHAT!? Snow already? I saw some snowflakes today here in Ottawa but it definitely didn't stick around. The sky in that first shop is absolutely stunning, such pretty colours!
ReplyDeletethanks so much for linking up with Photography Friday!
Jess

ReplyDeleteStopping by from The Bradley's for Photography Friday
Cheers,

I love your pictures. I've lived in Coastal GA for almost 20 yrs. I miss the first snow of Michigan winters.
ReplyDeleteI love this! We don't get any snow, ever, here in Western Australia. My husband is from Minneapolis, and I've been over there for Christmas once. The snow was AMAZING!!! I miss it, and can't wait till we can go back to see the snow again.
ReplyDeleteI'd love to wake up to the first snow of the season, I think it would be so magical. :)
I'm not ready for snow yet, but I did enjoy your stunning photos!
ReplyDeleteGoodness that is such a cool shot of your family! I am from a family of six and there is nothing better!!! And the snow!! Beautiful photos! They are calling for snow here next week! Happy weekend to you!
ReplyDeleteOh wow...talk about night and day!! Seems like you were just posting photos of your kids jumping into pools and lakes! ;-) The snow is beautiful though! Love, love your Christmas cards. I'm looking forward to doing Christmas cards this year. The fam and I are trying to figure out what our theme is going to be.:-) Have a wonderful weekend Jenn!
ReplyDeleteOh no, oh no, oh no - no snow, yet, please!!! Thank goodness, I am living a little bit further south. So far we only had very mild frost some nights. And even that is too much - I do not like winter.
ReplyDeleteOh wow lovely pictures, I love to see the snow especially before Christmas but not for to long, hate it when it turns to ice and schools have to close. ..
ReplyDeleteOn behalf of the USPS I thank you for going back to sending out Christmas cards :)
ReplyDeleteTam@ spinststersnacks.com
I do send out quite a few handmade cards each year - I wish I had some snow to include in them. Beautiful photos.
ReplyDeleteLove your photos! =)
ReplyDeleteI love to send ( and receive ) Christmas cards!
The first snow is always magical! And then snow gets real old, real quick. When is Spring again?
ReplyDeleteWow! The snow looks amazing! I wish it would snow here, just once, but I don't think it has in like 100 years!! You are very lucky :)
ReplyDeletethe Earth through a Lens

ReplyDeleteHow pure and beautiful is this snow! thank you for sharing. So far we had only wind and rain!

ReplyDeleteps. they are predicting light snow fall tomorrow in MA ~ (coast)
Hello there, lovely photos and lovely blog, thank you so much-looking forward to reading more! x #magicmoments
ReplyDeletewe had a little sleet the other morning… no snow yet… great photos!
ReplyDeleteI'm just not ready for snow yet. So many of our leaves are still green on the trees.
ReplyDeleteThere's nothing lie the first snow! SO beautiful! Thanks for sharing at Share Your Stuff Tuesdays!
ReplyDeleteGreat photos, but I'm not sure I'm ready for SNOW! And as far as the Christmas cards go, don't even ask me about the stack I have...from the last 3 years :o
ReplyDeleteSnow is so far from my weather, but I love to see snow because it means there will be snow for us to ski this winter. We did not ski at all last year because my husband had major surgery and our favorite mountain did not open due to lack of snow.
ReplyDeleteI took a card making class, but I don't do the Christmas cards. My husband is an artist so he paints something which we turn into a card.
Hope you get your cards out this year.
We have friends who do a Valentine's card instead of Christmas.
We have had lots of rain and it is getting colder at night now but we still have not had a proper frost... which is good as I really hate the winter
ReplyDeleteMollyxxx
We woke up to snow today, too! Not quite as much as you did this day, though, just some flurries and nothing sticking quite yet. And then of course it's back up to the 60s this weekend! I love snow photos though, they are just the prettiest! Thanks for linking up with us!
ReplyDeletewe are having snowfall right this moment - I am not ready for winter! - it's just beginning!
ReplyDeleteLovely photos, Jenn. We had a little bit of snow but not as much as you. It won't be long though. Enjoyed reading about you on Shutterfly.
ReplyDeleteYour Christmas card photo is so adorable! I love that it's a casual shot and not perfectly "staged." (I read the Shutterfly post, too). :D
ReplyDeleteI can't get over the snow, although it was 30 degrees when I woke-up this morning in Central Alabama! Brrrr…..I'm still in my jammies!
(Shelley is still home sick). I want to make hot chocolate and look at blogs, Pinterest, and Christmas magazines today!
Thanks so much for linking-up! Seeing your snow photos have made me very happy!
xo,
RJ
Hi Jenn,
ReplyDeleteThe pictures are absolutely breathtaking! They make me want to make a hot beverage and walk around in my socks. Thank you for sharing it on the Thumping Thursdays Blog Hop. It's always great to have you link up.

Really nice assortment of photos about that first snowfall. First snow here on Long Island, too !
ReplyDeleteThat first picture is gorgeous and..... wait! Not much snow? Are you kidding? That looks like more snow than we get over the whole winter here! Lol x
ReplyDeleteI love the pic with the snow covered hockey sticks and net! And your card is beautiful. I grew up in the Muskoka area and miss the beautiful winter time. I hope to visit over the holidays. In the meantime, you may enjoy a recent post over at my blog www.ritewhileucan.com/ on 9 tips to remove the chore from sending Christmas cards. Found you via "fridayflash' link up at Jenny Evolution.
ReplyDeleteJenn, you sound just like my 8 year old daughter. She says winter is her favorite time of year for a lot of the same reasons you listed. I remind her that it is cold and she says that just means she gets to snuggle with me under a blanket. Awwww......maybe I like winter too. Your phots are so beautiful. Thanks so much for sharing this with our Let's Get Real readers. Heading over to read your shutterfly post.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful pictures. Thanks for sharing and you made me jealous as in Singapore, we do not have a chance to touch snow! haha. Thanks for joining 4 seasons blog hop and pin.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful. Thanks, for linking to What'd You Do This Weekend.
