My heart is heavy this morning. My mind is full of thoughts for the families in our neighbourhood that lost so much last night.
Thankfully no one was hurt, and a dog trapped in one of the houses was rescued. But the damage is extensive - one home destroyed, two more heavily damaged. It will be a long time before life gets back to normal for these families. Prayers and good thoughts appreciated.
It's Friday. Thank you internet for providing some distractions.
How about a S'mores Party?
I love this Travel Themed Gallery Wall.
I think I need to make this Classic Oatmeal Cake with Praline Icing.
Interesting thoughts on kids and sports.
Homemade Pop Tarts, yes please!

And some real advice for our daughters, not just the old clichés.
Go and hug your loved ones, be grateful for what you have, and have a happy weekend.
Wow Jenn - this is horrible, I am so sorry to hear of it, what a terrifying ordeal it must have been :(
ReplyDeleteThanks Holly. It was an upsetting evening to be sure.
Deleteoh that is so horrible! the poor families. I hope that life gets back to normal for all involved as soon as possible. thankfully no one was hurt.
ReplyDeleteLove the idea of the S'mores party. I also saw an at home S'mores recipe where you put chocolate chips in the bottom of a pan, then layer marshmallows over top, put in oven until chocolate melts and marshmallows are browned: and then dip with graham crackers. yummy!
I have a travel themed wall too! great idea.
I think the house is supposed to be demolished soon. The sooner they can rebuild the better.
DeleteSpeaking of S'mores...while we were all standing around watching the fire, someone made a crack about bringing s'mores. It was funny in a really poor taste kind of way :)
Horrible; I'm so glad no one, no human or animals got hurt! May the luck be with them in the up coming times.
ReplyDeleteThanks Melissa, all good thoughts are appreciated!
DeleteThis is awful :-( Thankfully no one was hurt. #AlohaFridayBlogHop
ReplyDeleteWe're all grateful that no one was hurt. Thanks for stopping by Irion.
DeleteI am sending good vibes to the families. That is a big fear of mine is for my house or any of my neighbors houses to hatch fire.
ReplyDeleteThanks Deedra. It was a frightening thing to watch.
DeleteOh no :( glad everyone got out ok. Sorry to hear this...
ReplyDeleteThanks Claire, it's a scary reminder of how quickly all can be lost.
DeleteSo sad! So glad everyone is ok but it's still really horrible.
ReplyDeleteI'm going to look at those food-related links you posted!
Such a relief that no one was hurt. Food makes everything better :)
DeleteI've been back to read it a couple of times :)
ReplyDeleteDriving past that house is a constant reminder of how quickly all can be lost :(
