Photo a Day

I'm not a big New Year's resolutions person.  Motivation to change or improve shouldn't just strike on January 1st of each year.  Self improvement should be a continuous, year-round thing.  I know that if I make a New Year's resolution, I'm most likely setting myself up for failure.  That said, there are a bunch of photo-a-day type challenges that have peaked my interest and make me wonder if that might be just the type of motivation I need to be more intentional with my camera and put it to use on a more regular basis:

January 2013 - photo a day challenge

Looking through the photos from the past year, there are all kinds of hockey and soccer photos, along with the obligatory holiday pictures.... but it's an incomplete story.  There is so much ordinary everyday stuff that happens in between, and it isn't being captured.  That's not to say that I'm going to start taking photos of every cup of coffee I buy, but I want to try and fill the gaps in the scrapbook of our lives.

So here's what 2013 looks like so far:

Treats from cupCAKE

Quality couch time.

Stocking up on books.

Random foot.

Straight up nachos with cheese and no fancy toppings per in-house 10 year old.

Some snow.

Grade 10 art project in the works.

Devil's Food Cake... bundt style.  I can't bake a bundt without thinking of My Big Fat Greek Wedding.

Plenty of hockey.

  1. You're making me feel very hungry and it's only 9.30 in the morning here! I particularly like that one of the foot peeping out...

  8. Thanks for visiting me over at A Geek In Glasses!!! I love your pictures. It's a big project to do a 365! I'm trying to do it too. So far so good. I am working on taking all pictures in full manual mode. I used to work in Shutter priority, but I'm moving to full manual.
Keep up the good work! I'm following you now, so I'll keep checking on your progress!

  9. Hi Jenn,
I think "a photo a day" is a wonderful challenge! My daughter's blog and some of my other friends have blogs like this...and of course, my own blog..."A Place for Pictures and Memories" I love photography! It's been a passion of mine for many years. On weekends, my husband and I like to get up and be on the road early to capture photos of the sunrise, it's our favorite time of the day. I look forward to seeing your pictures :)

  18. Hi Jenn! I'm terrible with resolutions and just made a bucket list for things I want to accomplish in 2013. Nothing major, just little things I put off. I've also been interested in a photo-a-day challenge but have yet to try one. I doubt I'd keep up with up, and I'd most likely even forget I'd signed up for it, Ms. Forgetful lol.

Thanks for linking up with my NO RULES Weekend Blog Party :))
