Summer Weekend in Kentucky

It's already mid August.  Two more weeks of summer vacation before school and hockey schedules rule our lives.  We've done our best to enjoy this summer, despite work schedules that didn't really allow for much of a break.  We managed a weekend trip to Kentucky, as we did last year, to visit friends.  Driving through the night allowed us to arrive while the sun was coming up.

I had to get my Trader Joe's fix, of course.  Hello Cookie Butter.

There was an afternoon of go carts and mini golf.

Not-so-mini golf, and beating the heat in the pool.

And some good old hanging around in the backyard.

Grateful for friends that open their home to us, and long weekends that allow time for summer road trips.

  1. What gorgeous sunrise photos! I love seeing the sun rise on somewhere new, even though I know you said you have been to Kentucky. I have never been there! It looks as beautiful as I would think.
Also, I have never tried Cookie Butter! I can't wait, because Trader Joe's is only 15-20 minutes from my house and this can happen.

  7. I remember once driving through KY just after a snow storm. It was a nightmare. KY is much nicer in better weather.

  12. Road trips are the best! We drive through the night when we travel to in general, mostly cause it is easier on the littles. :)

  14. What lovely, clear photos - what camera do you use? The journey looked lovely. I like the pic of the little yellow bird! Is it a warbler?
