It took me a while to warm up to it. I didn't get it right away. So many selfies, so many hashtags. But as I look back at what I've posted over the past couple of months, I see that it's become a photographic journal of sorts. A random sampling of our days.
Which is exactly what I'd hoped that this blog would become when I first started it. I love the idea of journaling, and I've always been a photo junkie, but I've struggled to do any of it consistently. I have a drawer full of half filled journals, scrapbooks that haven't seen a sticker or glue stick in ages, and baby books with more blank pages than filled. Even with the best intentions, I've sucked at memory keeping. But this blog has made me accountable. In the beginning the only person reading was my Mom, then a few friends, and eventually some like-minded bloggers. Now, I can't very easily tuck it into a drawer, because someone will call me out on it. And for the days that there aren't any words to share, Instagram's got my back in the memory keeping department, which I think is pretty awesome.
I. Love. Instagram!! I am totally addicted. It's a great way to journal your life, isn't it? Those are some lovely flowers :)
ReplyDeleteAwesome pictures!! I love Instagram, it's my favorite and it's always fun looking back at all of your pictures :)
ReplyDeleteLove that you have stuck with your 'journaling' ! I always start these things but I am not always the best at sticking to it. Your day looks full of lots of little interesting moments to cherish.
ReplyDeleteThat's kind of how I view my blog, too. A journey of my/our life, with a side dish (or main) of photography ;)
ReplyDeletelove this idea. i also wonder if my blog somehow reflects the randomness that i felt. but oh well, it's mine and a journal of life's moments
ReplyDeleteVery cool idea - I may have to jump on the bandwagon! I found your blog through the Someday Crafts linkup :)
ReplyDeleteIt amazes me that I sucked big time at keeping actual scrapbooks at home. Beautiful photos, beautiful pages and embellishments to make beautiful albums...and..Nope. Not done. But blogging? So easy. Instagram, even easier. I love that I can combine my passion for writing and photography in one place. Also - no glitter glue!! winning. :)
ReplyDeleteAn interesting selection of photos--especially like the juxtaposition of the snow-covered tree with the bright-colored mums. My WW
ReplyDeleteI know what you mean Jenn. Blogging has been a revelation!
ReplyDeleteGreat compilation of pictures, just here and there simple and very appealing.
ReplyDeleteHave a lovely rest of the week.
Isn't it funny what we take a pic of!?? LOL.....I just deleted a bunch off my phone but anyone looking at them would wonder what I was thinking!
ReplyDeleteThe tree with the snow is quite beautiful of a picture.
ReplyDeleteThis coming from somebody living in Detroit who's sick and tired of all the snow! Haha.
I can't wait for spring.
I'm a sucker for yellow, so those flowers have my heart.
Your snow globe collection is quite nifty. c:

I needed this to get re-started with Instagram! I love the idea of using it as a scrapbook of sorts, instead of thinking of it as a way to drive traffic. Great post!
ReplyDeleteThis is an awesome idea! I am having a hard time keeping up with all of my social media, some of it I just don't understand and some well I just haven't taken the time...I am going to try doing this myself!
ReplyDeleteI love this idea. I wonder if I could do it for just a week and then maybe try to do more from there. I know I'd be overwhelmed at the thought of every day, but maybe one week at a time might be the bite sized chunk I need. Stopping by from LOBS!
