Tall Ships on Georgian Bay

This past weekend we had perfect weather for a short road trip and decided to check out the Tall Ships while they were docked at nearby Georgian Bay.  It was a great way to squeeze in a little more summer before the kids all head back to school next week.

We weren't able to tour the ships, as we arrived late in the afternoon, but we managed to put on our best pirate-speak, admired the surroundings, and discovered specialty blueberry and blackberry maple syrups  at a local vendor... which made their way onto our waffles the next morning.

One more week.  It's really hard to believe another summer has come and gone.

  1. Fabulous photos! I think the tall ships were just in Duluth, MN recently. I remember seeing something about them. I can't believe we only have one more week of summer break either! Just went to our first middle school orientation tonight.

    1. Thanks Dawn! Looking forward to our last long weekend before school starts. We stopped by an open house at our kids' elementary school today... still can't believe how quickly the summer flew by!

  2. So cool! I have to tell you, I'm having such trouble with the end of summer. I just love to travel so much and we didn't see anything very cool this summer. Oh well, it was still a blast!

    1. Your blog tells a story of a beautiful summer well-spent... there's plenty of cool going on there :)

I'm having a hard time with this whole end of summer thing too, more so than usual. I need a little more 'airy-fairy' before we become slaves to routine again!

      Thanks for visiting :)

    1. It was a fun outing, next time I'd like to get there earlier so we can actually go on board some of the ships.

And Charleston! We stayed a week on Isle of Palms a few years ago and loved it down there. We spent a day in Charleston and I've love to go back, such an interesting city!

    1. Thanks for your kind words, I thought I might have broken some rules :)

I like the idea of a 'happiness re-cap' - taking the time to look for the good in our days.

So glad you popped over for a visit, thank you for the compliments... and just FYI, I'm still thinking about salt water taffy after having read your post!

  25. We saw the Tall Ships when they were in Bay City, Michigan. I bought the tickets on line and got the 'passport book' which allowed us to board each ship! The ships are amazing and to hear the 'history' of each one made it memorable!
