I'm working on documenting this week for Week In The Life, and it's an intimidating project for me. Trying to find interest in the day to day, often mundane, happenings in our lives is no easy task. I tried it last fall, and I found that some days were easier than others. In the end I was pleased with the result, and it was an important reminder that our lives are a combination of memorable events and forgettable daily routines. All of it is worth remembering.
This week started with the last day of our weekend in Boston. It was an amazing weekend and I would love to have had more time there. I will share more from our weekend road trip later.
Monday morning we set out to find a beach. We planned to be on the road and on our way home after lunch, so we were up and checked out of our hotel by 7am. The front desk staff suggested Good Harbor Beach and we were the first to arrive at the beach parking lot.
The tide was out.
It was a gorgeous beach, and the water was beautiful. A few salty mouthfuls reminded the kids that this wasn't the fresh water they were used to swimming in.
We ventured into Rockport for lunch.
My second lobster roll of the trip. I think I could eat these every day.
We found some candy for the road.
And piled into the truck for the long ride home.
We got home late, half unloaded the car, and fell into our beds with the ocean sand still on us.
On Tuesday the big camera took a break, and I barely remembered to stop once in a while and snap with my phone.
I captured this gem. The obscene post-road trip laundry pile.
And the mess in the truck.
Going back to work was hard.
Groceries looked like this, after eating out so much.
And dinner looked like this.
Beating the heat and catching up with a friend after dinner.
Ending up trapped in a gazebo while a thunderstorm passed through.
Linking up with Ali Edwards here.
I enjoyed your photos the beach ones were fab :-)
ReplyDeleteHave a busytastic week :-)
love the beach pics! Always so beautiful (I lived 20 min. from the beach before - now 3 1/2 hrs.!) - this makes me want to go back!
ReplyDeleteSo many lovely photos!
ReplyDeleteI can't wait to get to the beach in a few weeks. I find there's no place like the beach for putting the world into perspective for me!

I really enjoyed your pictures of the Boston area - particularly the ocean! My sister lived there for quite awhile so we frequently visited. Our views were of the downtown area, though. Lots to see and do, but not as picturesque as your trip!
ReplyDeleteAwww lobster! Cant get tired eating them too. The place looks so nice. And well the aftermath of any trip is never a nice one =P
ReplyDeleteLoved your photos of the beach!
ReplyDeleteI want to go to that beach!!! your pictures are amazing and it looks so wonderful. especially that Lobster roll and the candy shop.
ReplyDeleteIt looks like such a picturesque little town. kinda what I expect a beach town in America to look like.

Nice post - full of bright summer colour - I did laugh at the laundry pile!

PS: Going to work is hard, never mind 'going back to work' SM!
Lovely and colorful!
ReplyDeleteOh, I love your photos of Cape Ann! It's an amazing place, for sure, and I have bought candy at Tucks. Yep, I really have.
ReplyDeleteLove the beach! Happy Summer!
ReplyDeleteSometimes it is good to stop and notice the special little things about the mundane. Your weekend away sounds good and that town is very idyllic looking. Coming down to reality after time away is hard sometimes.
ReplyDeleteI work in Gloucester and know that beach well!!! So funny to see all my local sites on your blog:) I know how you feel about getting home to really groceries after vacation eating...I crave good food after a vacation!!!
ReplyDeleteThose beach shots are amazing and the lobster roll looks yummy! Looks like you had a great trip. Coming home is always a bit hard to adjust to, isn't it? Thank you for sharing your week with #PoCoLo too!
ReplyDeleteIt looks like so much fun! Thanks for sharing at Thursday Favorite Things.
ReplyDeleteOn my those waves look like real surfing waves, ours have been rubbish this week #PoCoLo
ReplyDeleteLovely pictures of your time at the beach, haha looks like my pile of washing and I've not been away!!
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing at the weekend blog hop
I love that shot of the umbrellas! I so need a beach trip! You would think that since we live just a half a mile away from the beach, we would go all the time. We haven't been this summer because it's too hot. We made plans to go to Pensacola to spend the day on the beach but it rained - just our luck lol
ReplyDeleteThank you for joining us for Photo Friday again this week!
That looks like an amazing trip! It looks like a beautiful part of the world. Getting home and having all the holiday washing to do is the worst though!
