Niagara Falls

Last week we had a short reprieve from the bitter cold temperatures, but it didn't last long as the polar vortex swung our way again this week.  It isn't even the end of January, yet this is already feeling like the longest winter ever.

We headed to Niagara Falls last weekend for a hockey tournament.  Despite the fact that it's definitely more of a summer destination, there were plenty of tourists braving the cold wind with their cameras.  It was incredible to see the falls flowing while the river below was almost completely frozen over.

The mist generated by the falls created a layer of ice on everything.

A little hockey, a little sight seeing, a lot of winter.

Thank you for featuring me!

  2. We went to Niagara Falls this past summer. It is really cool to see these photos from winter - I wondered what it would be like. Thanks for transporting me there without me having to brave the cold!

  3. I LOVE Niagara Falls. It's one of my special places. I've never been there in the winter, though.
Don't be mad at me..because this winter is the longest ever..but I don't get to complain. I'm in Florida right now for a week and it's sunny and 70 here. And the sunset is an hour later than at home! Oh, happy day.

  4. Beautiful pictures! I've always wanted to go there. My youth group went a few years ago (when I was still a youth), but I couldn't go because of work. :/ Someday... Someday.

  5. Awesome pictures. I visited here when I was 12 or 13 during the summer. It was the first time I'd ever seen a waterfall (we don't have them here--too flat). Mesmerizing!

  11. My family and I love Niagra Falls. My in-laws live not too far from there. We just discovered the nearby outlet mall on our last visit and managed to sneak in a visit over the Christmas break. I'm joining you from Wordless Wednesday and am now following via Google. Come for a visit to Threads in the Nest when you have time.

  35. Stopping by from photography friday. The falls look amazing in winter. It is still on my to do list, but I know I will go someday soon. Seeing the frozen waters makes me appreciate the heat here in Buenos Aires. I am a bit of a summer chaser.
