Hello Autumn

It's officially autumn, as evidenced by the new chrysanthemums that now fill our patio urns.  Last week saw the first frost of the season, which took care of the petunias and geraniums that flowered in them all summer long.


For the most part it's still warm, despite a few cold and rainy days, and the leaves have just barely begun to change colour, so it's easy to hang on to a summer state of mind.  But like it or not, fall is here.  It's in the Pumpkin Spice Lattes at Starbucks.  It's in the all the red, brown, and orange shades taking over the store displays.  It's in the sweaters and boots that are slowly replacing sandals in the hallway... and the cinnamon candle I suddenly feel like burning as the days get shorter and the nights colder.  I will miss summer, no doubt about it, but there are a few things about this time of year that I love.

Like the start of hockey season.




At the rink is one place I'm very happy to be.  Happy fall y'all!

      Oh the dreams of little boys! He's always wanted to be a hockey player... or a cowboy. At least he has a back-up plan :)

    This post makes me want to cry, lol! I don't like this time of year, because all my perennials go to sleep. And we have such a short summer season here in Canada!

    It's so different in the UK too Jenn and it seemed to happen overnight. Great hockey shots - we have no coverage here on main stream television so I only get to watch it in US/Canadian dramas!

    I tried to ignore the cooler nights, but now there are some days that have been cooler here too. Oh well...I do love the pretty colored leaves that come from it :)

      I have an older Canon Rebel and a more compact Sony Cybershot. As much as I'd love to learn how to better use my DSLR, I tend to keep the settings at auto and hope for the best. A photography class is on my bucket list!

      Great! I should also confess to using the occasional mobile phone photo. They are decidedly not crisp or clear but sometimes better than no photo at all. Are you a photographer?

    I haven't seen many hockey games, although I was surprised to read that one of the best HS travel hockey team is from here in Birmingham, AL!!!

    I love it when the pumpkin spice lattes are back at Starbucks. They're my favorite!

    I'm ready for fall! It's been so darn hot here in SC. I have never been to a hockey game, but my man and I always talk about going to one. Oddly enough Charleston has a team...maybe this year we'll make it to a game ;-)

    I'm also happy about the return of hockey season! I couldn't play last year because I was pregnant, and now I'm back on the ice! It feels so good to be back and makes me feel like I'm more myself again after having a baby!
