It started with my oldest son and his girlfriend. Last summer they bought fishing rods to bring down to the docks.
Now every one of the boys has a fishing rod of their own.
Honestly, I don't get it. I've fished once in my life, and I was bored beyond description.
But I was happy enough to bring my camera and watch them do whatever it is they do. There was much handling of worms. No thank you.
And fish. They touched the fish. Ick.
But they were outside, and they were getting along, and there were no electronics.
Just the lake and the fish. And older brothers teaching younger brothers how it all works.
And a surprise fishing friend.
*Update* After much comparing of images on Google, we've decided that our fishing friend is a weasel!
Great photos! I love the expression on that little face of your surprise visitor. Thanks for linking on Amanda's Books and More!
ReplyDeleteI would have been right there with you - taking pictures and avoiding worms, fish, etc. Great pictures!
ReplyDeleteWas that wee fish the bait or the catch, LOL? Yes, nothing wrong with fishing -- good clean fun!
ReplyDeleteOh, how I miss fishing. Nothing like hooking a fish, reeling it in, gutting it, then frying it up. Yum!
ReplyDeleteWhat is that surprise visitor??? It's cute!
ReplyDeleteAnd did they eat the fish, or throw them back?
I've never been fishing! I kinda want to try.
Lovely shots - and what a stunning location!
ReplyDeleteI'm not sure I ever really get fishing either; but an evening in the sunshine hanging out with my family, now that I can get behind! It looks serene and blissful - what a beautiful part of the world!
ReplyDeleteThese photos are so lovely. I always think it's great when siblings can share moments like this, that we can be totally seperate from and just enjoy from the sidelines.
ReplyDeleteThanks so much for linking up to Siblings. x
Beautiful photography! Looked like a lot of fun :)
ReplyDeleteHere's to being outside and no electronic gadgets whatsoever! Don't get the fishing thing here either, but give me a bucket & a net, some rockpools & a few hours to spare & I am one happy bunny. Just love not having to concentrate on anything else. Fabulous photos x
ReplyDeleteDespite your disinterest in fishing (I do too), looks like you all had a great day as family! Love the photos :)
ReplyDeleteI find worms icky so I cant do fishing unless someone will do it for me. Your sons here, they look like they are at peace. Fishing is so therapeutic no? Do you get to bring those fishes home or you put them back? Thanks for sharing your fishing day. The photos are amazing =) #PoCoLo
ReplyDeleteMy girls spent 4th of july fishing and they too loved it, I also didn't see the appeal.
ReplyDeleteWell at least it's a fairly harmless hobby! I can't understand the appeal of fishing either but kudos to those who like it!
ReplyDeleteI'm like you. I'd rather photograph the other people fishing!
ReplyDeleteLooks like a fun time...love the photos and your visitor is adorable
ReplyDeleteFirst of all, I have to say that fishing is fun when I'm catching something; however someone has to be right next to me to un-hook the thing...I don't touch! haha. Second of all, apparently I was following you via GFC but not bloglovin' - they recommended we be friends so now I'm following you on there since I use that more :)
ReplyDeleteBrothers outside, getting along, having fun and no electronics...priceless!
ReplyDeleteI love the photos, Jenn! I also enjoy a "little bit" of fishing...I don't like to put the bait on or take the fish off the hook...but it's very exciting to catch one!

I had a big smile on my face as I read this. I have four boys and I dream about them spending time together like this. Great pics!
ReplyDeleteIt looks like a great fishing trip full of memories. Lovely. :)
ReplyDeletehaha, love your disgust of the worm bit and fish touching bit. I'm with you, fishing is kind of on the boring side. But I find it enjoyable to go watch. I use to go with my papa when I was little and I always enjoyed spending the afternoon with him even if the fishing part was a snooze. And I sucked at it. Bonus that there were no electronics and everybody was getting along. What is that animal? a ferret?
ReplyDeleteFinally figured it out...a weasel!
DeleteI love to fish and let me tell you if you learn to love it and dont think ICK at everything you will be a winner in all boys books.
ReplyDeletewhat fun and how great to have a dock to fish off ~ Great shots for OWT ~ Happy fishing to you ~ ^_^
